Legacies: • I nominate my highly esteemed friends John MILES/STYLES, Baker and Flour [Merchant] of Nunney, John BARBER, Yeoman of Trudoxhill and Benjamin NEWPORT, Labourer of Trudoxhill as Trustees for this my will
• my freehold estate by the name of Frome (?) Tenement with all the buildings that pertain thereto, the garden and barton and all the enclosures, paddocks, fields, pieces and plots of land whether open or enclosed with all the timber growing upon the same and also another freehold enclosure or paddock included in the same Deed of Conveyance known as Yeomans Field, all to be sold in several lots, i.e. the dwelling or farm house and garden, the cowsheds, stables, cider house, barn, the farmyard and barton together with two enclosures or pasture field adjoining called Home (?) Ground (?), the other called Summer -----, all of which to be sold in one lot, and every other field, paddock or parcel of land to be sold in separate lots as also my leasehold field known as Mains Mead, held on lease on two lives under the Earl of Cork; and I direct that the monies that arising shall be lodged in the hands of some safe banker
• to my brother William CORNISH and Mary his wife an annuity of £15 12s to the longest liver of them
• to my three nephews Henry CORNISH, William CORNISH and Joseph CORNISH, sons of my brother William CORNISH, £50 a piece with benefit of survivorship
• to my nephew Thomas CORNISH s/o my brother William CORNISH £200, but he shall not be entitled to a share in the residuary property herein after described
• to the children of my late nephew John CORNISH s/o my brother William CORNISH living at my decease £50 in equal shares
• to John CORNISH, oldest s/o my late nephew Benjamin CORNISH s/o my brother William CORNISH, and his heirs and assigns for ever, my freehold paddocks or fields known as Bassets (?) paddock near Pyle Farm in the psh of Nunney
• to the other ch/o my late nephew Benjamin CORNISH s/o my brother William CORNISH living at my decease £50 to be divided between them in equal shares, but their brother John CORNISH shall have no part in it
• to each of my nieces Rebecca CARPENTER, d/o of my brother William CORNISH, £50, Mary READ, d/o of my brother William CORNISH, £50, and Amy CORNISH, d/o of my brother William CORNISH, £20; and if any die first, the legacy to go to any child(ren) they may leave
• to Fanny HODDINOTT d/o my late brother John CORNISH £100
• to John CALLAWAY, dissenting Minister at Trudoxhill, £50; and if he dies before me, the £50 to his wife Mary CALLAWAY if she survives him; or else to the trustees of the Independent Chapel at Trudoxhill on trust for the good of the place forever
• to David AUSTEN my servant in recognition of his faithful service £30
• to each of my friends John STYLES, Baker and Flour Dealer of Nunney, John BARBER, Yeoman of Trudoxhill, and Benjamin NEWPORT, Labourer of Trudoxhill, £10 apiece as trustees, to be paid from the residue
• residue in equal shares between my nephews and nieces, the ch/o my brother William CORNISH and my brother John CORNISH, i.e. my nephews Henry CORNISH, William CORNISH, Joseph CORNISH and the surviving ch/o my late nephews Benjamin CORNISH and John CORNISH shall have their fathers share, my nieces Rebecca CARPENTER, Mary READ, Amy CORNISH and Fanny HODDINOTT, and if any die before me his or her child(ren) shall have their deceased parents share; but if there is a surplus of above £50 after each of my above nine nephews and nieces has £100 allotted them, then I give £50 to the trustees of the Independent Chapel at Trudoxhill in trust for the good of the place forever and any surplus shall be equally divided between my nine nephews and nieces above named
