Desmond worked at numerous "weather stations" around the world and later worked at GCHQ. He obviously had some fairly high levels of military clearance. When he retired, he worked managing several restaurants.
Desmond adopted a son, James, in the early 1960's and lived in Cornwall. Not known if he's still alive. I have a picture of Desmond, James and "Frank" together.
