A Well Known Local Couple
Gatley Congregational Church was the scene of a fashionable wedding on Saturday afternoon, when Mr Arthur B. Todd, elder son of Mrs M. L. Todd, of 45, Springfield Road, Gatley, was married to Miss Kathleen Rita Tattersall, only daughter of Mr J. E. Tattersall, of 61, Altrincham Road, Gatley. The Rev. Norman Garnett, B.A., B.D., was the officiating minister.
Both the bride and bridegroom are well-known in Cheadle and Gatley. They are both members of Cheadle Cricket, Tennis, and Bowling Club, and of Cheadle Amateur Dramatic Society. The bridegroom, until recently, was secretary of the Dramatic Society, and it was at a rehearsal there that he first met his bride. The bridegroom also played lacrosse for Cheadle Lacrosse Club for some years.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming gown of pebble crepe satin, and a headdress of white net and a sheaf of arum lilies.
The chief bridesmaid was Miss Rene Fletcher, cousin of the bride, and she was accompanied by Miss Margaret Fletcher, also cousin of the bride. Both were attired in lovely dresses of floral Swiss organdie, with caps of pink and mauve net, and they carried sheaves of gladioli. The small attendant was Miss Sheila Harwood, age four years, and she looked very pretty in her dress of pink organdie, and carried a basket of sweet peas.
The bridegroom's mother wore a lovely dress of lido blue lace with hat to tone, and a spray of pink carnations.
The bridegroom's brother, Mr Stephen Todd, was the best man, and the groomsmen were Messrs L. Harwood and C. Cooper, cousin of the bride.
The reception was held at Parker's Cafe, Gatley, after which Mr and Mrs Todd left for their honeymoon, which is being spent golfing on the West Coast. Mrs Todd was wearing a wine-coloured dress and grey coat, with a grey hat trimmed with the same colour as her dress. Their future residence is 6, Alcester Road, Gatley.

THE funeral took place at Manchester Crematorium on Wednesday last week of Mr Arthur Bennett Todd (60), of 30 Barchester Road, Cheadle, who died on the previous Friday. The Rev. D. J. Weekes, of Cheadle Parish Church, officiated.
