Complaint being made by the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of Higham West Close Booth in the forest of Pendle in the Parish of Whalley and County of Lancaster aforesaid, unto us, two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace and Quorum, in and for the said County, Residing next to Higham with West Close Booth aforesaid, That Richard Tattersall, Ellen his wife, John, William, Richard, James, Lawrence and Benjamin their sons Ellen and Ann their daughters - poor persons and likely to become chargeable ? lately come out of Goldshaw Booth in Pendle aforesaid, the place of their last legal settlement into Higham with West Close Booth aforesaid, but have gained no Legal Settlement there. Now on hearing the said Complaint upon Oath, and what the Complainants have alleged touching the premises above: WE do adjudge the said Richard Tattersall, Ellen his wife, John, William, Richard, James, Lawrence and Benjamin their sons Ellen and Ann their daughters to be Poor and likely to become chargeable to Higham with West Close Booth aforesaid and also adjudge their last Legal Settlement to be in Goldshaw Booth aforesaid. There are therefore in his Majesty's name to require and command you forthwith to remove and convey the said Richard Tattersall, Ellen his wife, John, William, Richard, James, Lawrence and Benjamin their sons Ellen and Ann their daughters out of your said Booth of Higham with West Close into Goldshaw Booth aforesaid and there deliver to or leave there with the Church Wardens or Overseers of the Poor there, or to, or with some of them, together with this Order, or a true Copy thereof, who are hereby required to receive, set on Work, or otherwise provide for the poor Persons above-mentioned according to Law.
Given under our Hands and Seals this Eleventh Day of March in the twenty fourth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the Second.
To the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of Higham with West Close Booth abovesaid, to remove and convey and to the like Officers of Goldshaw Booth aforesaid, to receive and provide for the poor Persons above. Show more |
