John Minter Hall Jr. lost his savings in the 1910 collapse of the Charing Cross Bank. At that time my grandfather had a choice between going to India as a tea planter or coming to Canada. He chose Canada because it was easier for John Minter to join him at a later date. Therefore, my grandfather sailed to Canada in 1911 on the Teutonic.
