Licence granted in 1868 to assign absolutely a portion to one Alfred Hall of Westbury. In 1859 the poor rate survey lists the property with the house, garden, yard and farm buildings, with no name, yet the next item on the list is shown as Scotts Orchard. In 1854 a list of freeholds in Bratton Manor shows the name Nevilles. A further list of leasehold property in 1859 shows the name ‘formerly Nevilles’. The property in Mrs Scotts’ time became large for a farmer of that time for it amounted to a total of 125 acres, 2 roods and 3 perches in the 1835 Survey. This included 21 acres in Longcombe Bottom (Happy Valley) plus three lots of 16 acres each and one of 15 beside 8 other pieces up to 4 acres each. She must have been quite wealthy for that day. The list of 1859 shows David Snelgrove's lease as covering only 28 acres, all designated as ‘part of formerly Nevilles’. Although Mrs Scott and others since had been shown as Proprietor, Edward Seagram must have retained an overall interest, possibly as Agent for Longleat for in 1859, he is still shown as Lessee under the Lease of 1810 but it is shown as being ‘In Trust’, presumably to preserve the rights of the Bath Estate. The next occupier was William Callaway who died on 8 September 1875 who left the residue to his sons William and Benjamin. An occupation entry in 1876 shows Benjamin having the homestead, orchards and garden, several areas amounting to 10 acres, plus another 13 acres which had formerly been leased by William Callaway.

In 1808 the farm contained 143 acres and was farmed by George Griffin Pearce. In 1845 it was farmed by Jonathan Ackerman and in 1858 by Edward Kite.

The farm, then reckoned at 269 acres was leased during the earlier 19th century by members of the Hayward family and in 1880 by David Snelgrove, who bought it in 1920.

Chirton Farm stands on the east side of High Street south of the school, from which it is separated by a large timber-and-thatch barn. It is a substantial 18th-century brick house five bays wide with a half-hipped thatched roof.
