The wedding was celebrated on February 11th at St Andrews Church Te Kuiti; of Thelma Anna, third daughter of Mr & Mrs H.E.Brickland Te Mapara, to William Herbert, son of the late Mr & Mrs Moore, of Wellington. The officiating minister was the Rev. Mr Nightingale, of Pio Pio, and Mrs Brabyn of Te Kuiti presided at the organ.

When Bill was 15 years old with the depression underway he left the Wellington area to seek work in the Taumaranui/King Country area where he met his future wife Thelma Brickland around 1938.
Times were hard and war was imminent.

With his wife he established a small trucking business in PioPio and worked at that until 1949 when he,Thelma and their four children (Patricia, Louisa, Bruce & Michael) moved to the Bay of Plenty (Ohope) in 1949/50 and it was here that Peter
