KA Jones file: Obituary
His initial education was at his home, Tiriraukawa, under the tutorship of a governess. the Hintz's moved to Taihape and lived at Kiwi Road, from where he attended Taihape School. Later he was a pupil at Marton & Waitaki Boy's High School in Oamaru.
He worked hard for the Catholic Church & had a close friendship with Father Doclaghty. Both had a common love of horses.
Worked for the St Patrick's Sprots Club and A & P Association of which he was president for 3 years from 1944-1947.
Was president of the Taihape Picnic Race Meeting for 8 years.
Was patron of the Ohutu Sport's Club and a keen supporter of the Horse Society Sports.
Had 10 grandchildren in 1980

The pony clubs went into recess in the 1950s. The Ngawaka Pony Club came out of recess in 1965 with Mrs Val Merwood as chief instructor. Families that joined included ...........Hintz.............

Page 61: 'Haymaking'
Around 1915 horse drawn mowers, hay rakes and sweeps appeared on the scene. The first haybaler in the distraist came in around 1938 and was owned by Allan Parsons. This contraption was driven by a horse going round and round attached to a long pole. Henry Hintz, Weekes and O'Callaghan also brought in stationary hay presses.
